Dear Members, Colleagues, and Friends,

I am pleased to invite you to join us for CPSG’s 2025 Annual Meeting in Cali, Colombia, which will this year be hosted by our friends at Cali Zoo.

Alongside issues of importance to the global CPSG community, this year’s meeting will explore the successes, challenges and opportunities for species conservation in Colombia and its neighboring countries. The CPSG network has a long and productive history in this region, and this will be an opportunity to strengthen existing partnerships as well as to promote the One Plan Approach and other CPSG tools to new and diverse audiences.

The CPSG Annual Meeting is a working meeting with an informal, open, and highly interactive atmosphere. Participation in the CPSG Annual Meeting is open to anyone interested in species conservation, the work of CPSG, and the topics being discussed. Through plenary presentations and working group sessions, participants will learn about, discuss, and find ways forward on issues of importance to the local and global conservation communities. Our aim is to use the collective skills, experience and wisdom of those present to shape ideas and accelerate positive change for species.

If there is a topic you would like to work on with fellow conservationists from across the world, we invite you to send your ideas to CPSGAM@cpsg.org.

Your participation and input will be greatly valued.

We hope to see you in Cali!

Executive Director, Cali Zoological Foundation

Dear colleagues and friends,

It is my pleasure to invite you to the CPSG meeting in Cali, Colombia, from October 24 to 26, 2025. This gathering will bring together conservation professionals from around the world to collaborate on strategies for safeguarding wildlife and their habitats.

Cali is a vibrant and biodiverse destination. Nestled between the Andes mountains and in close proximity to the lush Pacific lowlands, it is home to more than 560 bird species—one of the highest urban bird diversities in the world. Culturally, Cali is a lively mix of Indigenous, Afro-Colombian, and Hispanic influences, celebrated through its music, cuisine, and traditions. In 2024, we proudly hosted the UN Biodiversity Conference, COP16, reinforcing the city’s and country’s commitment to conservation.

This meeting is an opportunity to explore a region not often visited in the context of zoo-based conservation and to engage in discussions about the pressing challenges facing wildlife. We, the Cali Zoological Foundation, have established our own conservation initiatives for native species, which we hope to share with you, but we are equally excited to learn from your experience.

Beyond the meeting, I encourage you to experience Colombia’s extraordinary natural beauty, from the Amazon rainforest to the vast plains of Los Llanos and the Caribbean’s vibrant cities.

We hope you will join us in Cali for an inspiring and productive gathering. I look forward to welcoming you in October 2025!
